MHC Pauses Print Edition of The Equiery for Strategic Digital Rebrand
MARYLAND — July 3, 2026 — The Maryland Horse Council (MHC) announced today that starting September 1, it will temporarily suspend the monthly print edition of The Equiery, Maryland’s equestrian trade magazine. This planned hiatus of the print edition will allow the publication to undergo an extensive rebranding process tailored to modern digital preferences.
For decades, The Equiery has served as Maryland’s trusted source for horse sports, industry news, and community events. As media consumption habits shift, the publication is proactively evolving. This “renovation” period will focus on building a more interactive, immediate, and mobile-friendly digital experience for the equestrian community.
“Our community reads differently today than it did a decade ago,” said Kim Egan, the Maryland Horse Council’s VP for Publications. “By pivoting our resources from print production to digital innovation, we can deliver real-time news, richer multimedia content, and better targeted reach for our local businesses.”
MHC President Laura Lane-Unsworth said that MHC “remains deeply committed to providing top-quality information to the horse community. This shift ensures that our delivery methods match our high standards, allowing us to serve Maryland equestrians with the same integrity and excellence, just in a more modern and accessible format.”
During the transition, The Equiery digital platforms will remain fully active. Readers can continue to access the online business directory, community calendar, and breaking news via the website and social media channels. MHC will also continue to make The Equiery’s vast archives available, free to the public.
MHC plans to relaunch a fully reimagined version of The Equiery in the future.
